Lepton or WB?
For some time, the fork Lepton is available now. Why should one change from WB to Lepton? What you do is your decision, but I think I can deliver some food for thought:
- There are more core developers allowed for Lepton than for WB already now.
- This means Lepton has the resources to fix known security bugs very fast. Compare: WB 2.8.1 has known security problems since spring of 2010. Nevertheless the publisher did decide not to fix those known holes in the version suggested for productive use. Even today (23. July 2011) the buggy version 2.8.1 is available for download without any warning.
- As a protection against CSRF attacks, WB 2.8.2 has the FTAN. It must be coded into every module you use, otherwise you are not really protected. Lepton has the Leptoken, which will be added automagically, without the need to change anything on the modules (exept there are really esoteric link constructions)
- In Lepton there are countless small improvements (for instance automatic switch between Sommer- and Wintertime)
